The Competition and Regulation European Summer School and Conference (CRESSE) has established itself as the top academic Conference and Professional Training event in the areas of Competition and Regulation Policy in Europe. Top quality instruction and excellent organisation, with a good atmosphere in beautiful surroundings and the opportunity to participate in a high-quality Conference explain the very good ratings given by the participants of the nineteen Summer Schools and Conferences, that have been organised annually since 2006.
The Summer School offers a unique opportunity for intellectual exploration. In eight distinct self-contained Modules of up to 12-hour duration each, it provides a comprehensive account of the most up-to-date developments in economic theory, empirical analysis and legislation in the policy areas of Competition and Regulation. CRESSE also offers each year since 2018 a number of Advanced Short Courses in specific topics of Competition Policy. The Advanced Short Courses consist of Masters’ Level Lectures targeted to the more experienced and senior economists in Agencies and to those interested to pursue further studies and/or research in the areas of competition and regulation.
The CRESSE Lawyers Course on “The Role of Economics in Competition Law and Practice” has been established in 2014, and is targeted to lawyers, enforcers and judges working in competition law or any other field of law where the knowledge of economic theory is important. The course is taught by some of the foremost competition economists in the world. It covers both an introduction to microeconomics, game theory and industrial organisation theory, as well as, all the areas in the application of economics to competition policy.
The CRESSE – OECD Competition Agency Leaders Executive Programme (CALEP) was established in 2019. The programme courses are taught by eminent competition professors, lawyers, economists and members of the OECD secretariat. The course is tailored to be an essential professional development opportunity and targeted to Leaders / Heads and emerging Leaders of Competition Agencies, Commissioners, Board Members and Senior Officials (Directors General and other high-level officers) of Competition and other Regulatory Agencies throughout the world.
